Somebody’s Hero

Happy Monday Music Lovers,

Happy Valentine’s Day!  What a gorgeous day in Nashville today, perfect after the cold weather we have been experiencing.    There are a few different stories telling of the development of Valentine’s Day.  This is an excerpt I found at History.com if you want to know more. According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl — who may have been his jailor’s daughter — who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today.  Sometimes the meaning of Valentine’s day gets lost in the shuffle of consumerism, but I find another way to say “Thank you” to all those in my life whom I love.  Aside from Mother’s day, this is another way for me to let Mom know how grateful I am to be her daughter.  My song pick of the week is “Somebody’s Hero,” performed by Jamie O’Neal.

She’s somebody’s hero

A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee

A little kiss is all she needs

The keeper of the cheerios

I can remember all the times as a kid coming into the house with a bruise or cut, crying my eyes out and Mom was always there to kiss the pain away.  Even at the times when the cut could not be seen by everyone, Mom always knew how to soothe a broken heart from losing a friend or the hurt from tauntings of a mean girl at school.  She is always at the other end of the phone whenever I need her.

For twenty years, there at home, until the day her girl was grown

Giving all her love to her was her life’s ambition

But now her baby’s movin’ on, and she’ll soon be missin’ her

These lyrics resonate with me just because of the way Mom has always pushed me to chase my dreams.  I picked up from everything I ever knew in life and moved  miles away, but I would not have been able to do any of it without her love and support.

She’s somebody’s hero

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day.  Keep all those in your heart close, day to day, even if they’re miles away!  Realize you are loved.

As always bloggers, until next time, keep those ears entertained.

Musically,
