Garth Brooks 2010

Dear Music Lovers,

Yet again, Garth Brooks is making history!  Garth Brooks announced on October 28, 2010 he and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, would be doing one show in Nashville to help with the flood relief fund.  That one show quickly sold out within minutes, yes I said minutes as in 600 seconds, of going on sale, which led to the addition of eight additional shows.  That’s right!  Garth Brooks sold out nine show dates in Nashville within minutes of each show going on sale.  Even better news, every single penny raised for the shows has been donated to the Flood Relief fund for Nashville, making a total donation amount above $3 million dollars.  Not only is he generous in the manner of donations to flood relief victims, Brooks is also having Toys for Tots on site to take toy donations at each concert.  What a generous couple,Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood!  I am so glad I got to be a part of this  moment in Country music history.

I got lucky and was able to attend the second show on the first night of concerts, December 17th. As we were walking down to Bridgestone Arena that evening, it was truly amazing to see the streets packed with fellow concertgoers ready to take part in this amazing concert experience.  The Nashville economy just got a great boost this weekend with many people traveling  from out of town to catch the superstar’s performances. This too adds income to the folks and businesses that lost days and days of customers during this past May flood. This business blessing will repeat with each concert.

Garth Brooks took the stage and did not leave once during the whole  hour and a half concert.  He exuded pure enjoyment as he looked out onto the sold out crowd. Some of the hits he played included many of today’s chart toppers along with the songs which first launched his career.  Hits included “Shameless,” “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” “Unanswered Prayers,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “Friends In Low Places,” “Alabama Clay,” “The Dance,” and “Ain’t Going Down (Until The Sun Comes Up)”.  I know there was much more performed during this amazing concert, but my mind was in the moment.

During Brooks performance of “Unanswered Prayers,” he turned the microphone over to the crowd and stood in amazement as everyone began to sing.  The band was silent and it was just Brooks and the audience.  Brooks was in awe with hearing his song sung back to him, by all who came to the concert that night.  Not once during the  show did Brooks excitement and energy dwindle as he ran from corner to corner of the stage to make sure all the audience had the best experience of their lives.

Trisha Yearwood graced the audience with her presence for one of Brooks hits.  It was beautiful seeing the two of them perform together because you can see the level of respect and care they have for each other.  Yearwood performed her hit “She’s In Love With The Boy.” She is one classy lady. Yearwood wasn’t the only other performer to grace the stage with Brooks.  Brooks brought along longtime friend Steve Wariner to perform with him partway through the concert.

The concert did not end until about 1 AM, but with the excitement and energy installed in concert goes you would have guessed it was nowhere past midnight.  It made a truly enjoyable night.  On the way back to the car, all my friends and I could say was, “Wow.”

Until next time, keep those ears entertained.

Musically,

Chelsea ♫
