This Is Country Music

Happy Snow Day,

I got lucky enough to be able to work from home today and not have to travel to the city today.  Enjoying the beautiful scenery this white winter wonderland is providing.  I is chilly, but I don’t mind it as much with the snow on the ground.  Picking songs has gotten a bit more challenging as so many lyrics have been relating to my life.  However, I wanted to include a wider array this week with my Music Monday choice.  For this week I chose, Brad Paisley’s latest single “This Is Country Music.”

It ain’t hip to sing about tractors, trucks, little towns, and mama,

Yeah that might be true.

But this is country music

And we do

The question has been raised many times as to why country music is popular and seems to be taking over many of the airwaves.  There is a common understanding amongst Country artists and fans as to the reigning popularity.   The most universal quote on Country music is based on real life.  As Paisley states Country music isn’t about singing lyrics that are cool and hip, instead it is about singing about what people can relate too.

So turn it on, turn it up, and sing along

This is real; this is your life in a song

Yeah this is country music.

As Paisley states in the second line of the chorus, Country music is real and this is your life in a song.  The lyrics just hit right in the heart when you hear them blaring from the speakers.  Just take a moment and think which songs most relate to real life.  I am guessing the majority that comes to mind are Country songs.  I especially love the ending of the song and how the song ties in some of the greatest Country songs of all time.

Year after year, Country music keeps on growing.  This past year, 2010, provided some great new tunes.  Now I am excited for the new tracks of 2011.  How about you?

As always bloggers, until next time, keep those ears entertained.
